The Bach Consort opens its season with the first and most lavishly scored of Bach’s Brandenburg concertos. Complementing this instrumental tour-de-force is one of Bach’s most famous and beloved sacred cantatas, Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, BWV 140. The second half opens with the majestic organ Prelude and Fugue in A Minor, BWV 543, followed by one of the most festive of all secular cantatas, BWV 207a, written for the name-day of the Elector of Saxony and King of Poland.
